It came down to the last play, but Bobcats was on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to South Aiken on Monday. The game was tied at two with South Aiken batting in the bottom of the seventh when Hayden Howell singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. South Aiken pitchers struck out ten, while Bobcats sat down one.
Bobcats got on the board in the second inning when Cody Eldridge tripled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
South Aiken knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored two runs for South Aiken.
Sam Swygert took the win for South Aiken. He allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out ten.
Dillan Montenegro took the loss for Bobcats. He allowed nine hits and three runs over six and a third innings, striking out one.
Eldridge, Anthony Storzieri, and R White each collected one hit to lead Bobcats.
South Aiken collected nine hits. AJ Deibel, Howell, and Braden Briatico all collected multiple hits for South Aiken. Deibel went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead South Aiken in hits. South Aiken was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Tucker Rabun had the most chances in the field with ten.
