Congratulations Coach Vaught!
Katie Vaught is excited to begin her first season as Head Coach of the Bluffton High School Girls Tennis program. Katie moved to Hilton Head Island with her family as a teenager in the mid-1990s before settling in Bluffton in 2001, where she and her husband, Ben, have made their home. They are proud parents of three children: Talia, a 2022 Bluffton High School graduate; Ben, a 2025 Bluffton High School graduate; and Henry, who will begin his freshman year at Bluffton High School this August. All three of their children have attended Beaufort County schools from kindergarten through high school, giving Katie a unique perspective as both a longtime Bluffton parent and now a coach, with a deep appreciation for the students, families, educators, coaches, and community that make Bluffton High School so special. Katie's love for tennis began at an early age, playing on 6-and-under teams and continuing throughout her childhood. After stepping away from the game for several years, she returned to tennis in 2020 and quickly rediscovered her passion for the sport. Last season, she served as the assistant coach for the Bluffton High School Girls Tennis team, where she discovered just how much she loved working with the student athletes. As Head Coach, Katie is committed to building a program that emphasizes hard work, sportsmanship, personal growth, and a love for the game. She believes the greatest success of any program is helping young women develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of the game. She hopes every player leaves the program not only as stronger tennis players, but also as more confident young women. Katie is honored to lead this program and excited to help build something special with this team. She can't wait to see what the future holds for Bluffton Girls Tennis. It's Better to Be a Bobcat!
